THE ART OF QUIET COMEBACKS: Part 2. Learning to Start Again

Part 2. Learning to Start Again

A series about starting over gently, honestly, and without apology

Failing isn’t the hardest part; it’s trying again after you’ve failed. It’s returning to a dream after life pushed it out of reach. I’ve started over so many times, in different places and with different tools. Each time, a little more bruised; a vulnerability that deepens with each encounter, yet I keep moving. Vulnerability in this sense isn’t weakness, it’s the emotional openness that builds from feeling deeply wounded and still showing up. Each time, a little more determined. It becomes a process, shaping and reflecting someone becoming more human, not less. Someone layered with empathy and resilience.

You need to know that resilience isn’t always loud. It doesn’t always look like a comeback story. Sometimes, it’s just putting one foot in front of the other, while no one is watching.

If you’re in that space right now, where progress feels invisible and your fight feels forgotten, know this: “starting small still counts as starting.”

Learn to begin again. You don’t need to roar to rise. Whispering “I’ll try again” is enough.

Your whispers do not need to be heard to matter.

Your whispers are valid, even if no one hears them.

However, ensure they are grafted onto the crucible of your soul, producing positive results.

Part 3 of THE ART OF QUIET COMEBACKS is quietly on its way.

Come back for every installment.
Come back to remember you’re not alone.
Come back, not to catch up, but to catch your breath.

Still becoming,

JS Havilah
