No child journeys into the world as an empty vessel. Deep within every man lies a voice craving expression, a voice resonating from within the core of their being. A voice some have yielded to, a voice some have shut down and left dormant. A voice screaming, yet unheard. For some, that voice had been stabbed and left bleeding. For some, it’s a voice that has remained undiscovered, a voice untapped.
Yes, there are many voices, but there is a voice of gift, a voice of talent. Circumstances of a child can be both internal and external, however, some internal circumstances are products of the external. The voice of gift and talent is not an external voice, it is a voice that flows from within, and oftentimes it can be ignited by the external.
GIFT: This refers to various things, it can be a physical object transferred voluntarily from one person to another, it can also be an act of kindness. However, the gift referred to in this article is a God-given special ability, an endowment, an outstanding capacity possessed by someone. This God-given ability propels remarkable results in areas where others struggle or completely avoid.
TALENT: This refers to a natural ability or tendency possessed by someone. When identified, this ability can be developed through continual practice, training and experience. Sometimes, talents can stem from a combination of genetics. Although talents are natural tendencies, the God-factor can’t be ruled out, because the natural is a creation of God, the supernatural.
Your gift is a voice, your talent is a voice, and sometimes, a voice requires other voices to thrive. Hence, your voice shouldn’t live in isolation. The beauty of a choir lies in the harmonious blend of diverse, high-quality voices.
Your talent is a voice, but if it’s not made to tread the paths of training and development, it may never fulfill its purpose.
Identifying your gift and talent is crucial, however, the identified talent never produces results, only the talent that is put into practice yields results. An axe left unused for a long period will glide into a blunt state. A voice that never speaks will never be heard. Dust away your fears and glide into action. Don’t be afraid of failure, some failures are foundations of greatness. The fear of failure is the fear of emerging, and the fear of criticism is the fear of a path that points, and journeys to greatness.
As you tread the path of utilizing your gifts and talents, never forget the giver (God), because every usage should glorify Him and propagate His kingdom. Always find a way to channel your gifts and talents to the glory of God. The more you acknowledge the giver (God), the more He will plough you deeper into maximizing that which He has bestowed upon you.
Some gifts and talents seem complicated and are portrayed as though they’re difficult or impossible to be channeled to God’s glory. It’s a facade, God never bestows an ability on a man without a purpose behind it. If you’re meticulous enough to ask Him, He will open your eyes to the purpose, and tutor you on “the how” to accomplish it.
You may be the next Joseph to feed nations, you may be the next Esther to preserve a nation, you may be the next Albert Einstein to make history only if you give the voice of your gift and/or talent a chance to speak.
In conclusion, if you have been given five talents, two or one (irrespective of the number), ensure you utilize them, because a day is fast approaching when you will have to give account of how you handled that which was bestowed upon you. If you maximize your gifts and/or talents to God’s glory, you may end up having more, and when you do, ensure you don’t look down on those with less. If yours is one, don’t envy those with multiple, rather, be faithful in its usage, because every voice counts.
